Advantage Care Health Center Extends Practice to Pediatric Patients

Mary Mulqueen, M.D., who started at the Advantage Care Health Center in November of 2017, expanded her practice to pediatric patients at both the Freeport and Brookville locations this May. Dr. Mulqueen is a primary care physician of internal medicine and pediatrics at the Advantage Care Health Center. Though she treats all patients, she specializes in providing care for patients with special needs, namely those with Down syndrome and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“Dr. Mulqueen is dually certified in internal medicine for adults and pediatrics,” says Mugel Rivera, community outreach coordinator at Advantage Care. “Pediatricians that specialize and have experience treating patients with Special Needs like Dr. Mulqueen are important to the community because families will know that they can find a doctor that can properly treat their child or loved ones.”

Dr. Mulqueen is a member of the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group (DMSIG) and participates in the Annual Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group Symposium. She also volunteers with and actively advocates for Aim High Down Syndrome Resources Center.

“Early intervention and early detection is key for a lot of families,” says Rivera. “We want to ensure that families know that our health center, and especially the pediatric center, is ready to assist with that need.”
