Bach To Rock opened its doors to aspiring musicians in Port Washington on Jan. 2. The decked out facility is located in the heart of the town. The school teaches children to play rock/pop instruments like guitar, drums, keyboards, bass, and vocals, as well as traditional band and orchestra instruments. Bach To Rock has both group and individual lessons, band programs, and New York State School Music Association preparation.

At the youngest end of the spectrum, the Rock City program for kids ages 3 to 5 builds their musical concept foundation and develops fine motor skills for future success. The Kids N Keys program for children ages 5 to 6 uses games and activities to teach the fundamentals of music, as well as piano.

Bach To Rock also offers one-week summer camps all summer, including half-day Rock City World Tour for ages 3 to 6, half- and full-day Rock Band for ages 7 to 11, and teen programs based on band performace and recording studio training for ages 12 to 15.

Alan Goodstadt, the managing partner of Amplified Capital Partners (an investment company that focuses on early education opportunities), says it is the facility that sets Bach To Rock apart from other music programs. The Port Washington location boasts a fully equipped recording studio with all the latest technology and high-quality equipment, plus its own stage for band performances.

"We have a unique curriculum that was developed over many years, which teaches students using up-to-date pop and rock songs," Goodstadt says. "We get kids into bands because we believe they learn best when they're playing in groups."
